I was reading the Tao Te Ching, 81 Verses By Lao Tzu, Sacred Texts Translation and Commentary by Ralph Alan Dale 2002 and came across Verse 43 and felt inspired to share it with you. It has such relevance for today and yet it is believed to have been written around the 6th BCE, most likely by those devoted to his teachings (as he was known for the simplicity of being rather than instructing in words, or deeds I would suppose).
THE VALUE OF MINIMUMS
That which is most tender
can overcome that which is most rigid.
That which has least substance
can penetrate that which has least space
Acting without deliberate action
and teaching without uttering a word
are rarely practiced.
So few find their way
to the Great Integrity, (Tao)
Never are words such as these so true, as when you have children in your life. They hear every word, but is that what they follow? No, they are taught without words, and generally speaking their tantrums (rigid) are controlled by the gentlest of actions (tenderness).
Have you found people fear telling the truth for fear of hurting another? Misguided love I suppose. Many others fear telling the truth for fear of repercussions. Politicians around the globe seem to have made it into an art form, weird isn't it, as it's almost expected of them?
Well I am often inspired by the opposites in life and Verse 43 today has had me thinking, even the name of Verse 43 is interesting, as we don't always consider minimums to be of any value in these days of up-size.
Also I was aware of my actions and non verbal communication. I had the music on, then I realised the beautiful silence that had filled my room. I sat and listened to some friends who dropped by, and although I hardly spoke a word my body spoke for me. My day was filled with such moments of awareness; very entertaining.
Well that was my day! A mystical, ancient reflection on my thoroughly modern Friday. Now, what can I get up to tomorrow? And you?
Hope your weekend is a treat, lots of love

All experience is good, it may not be seen as such, but they are like the furnace to the gold, they bring about the brilliance. Meditating on an issue or your experiences can bring clarity. But, saying 'they are all in the past now' may just be leading you up the garden path.Read More
Ah winter, thank you for waiting for me - the sun shone and we had warmth when I really needed it and you held yourself back. Now you're here and I want to say, I really love your cold days - I may even learn to love your freezing winds - please know I am working on it.Read More

Today I've been patient - patiently waiting for news. Sometimes patience is a waiting game; sit, stand or run we must wait, patiently. At other times patience is breathless, anxious and hard to cope with. So hard then as we really don't have much patience to give.
Patience has been called a virtue. I am not sure if one can find truth in that under all circumstances though. The virtue thing started a couple of thousand years ago by the martyrs who really did need to find something of value in their very real suffering. Well I however, have no suffering, it's just that time is marching on today so slowly and the rhythm is to the tune of another's beat. Not so virtuous. I can wait, I become in tune with her rhythm and patience is mine. Patience is action. A silent mindful motion and it comes with anticipation, conscious dreaming and a feeling of joy. I Am waiting happily, patiently for a gift! Do you know such patience? Till we chat again dear friends, WendyJoy xx

This post today continues the Tuesday Wellsprings Life Series.
Life is not all beer and skittles is it? And yet, with media showering us with 'the right way to look, to feel, to dress, to be' we can be left feeling so inept when faced with everyday troubles that everyday people just don't seem to suffer...Ha!
When faced with troubles,
You can feel like you are facing a storm
When faced with a storm,
Aim for the eye of it, shoot straight
In the eye of a storm you will find
A calm centre of retreat
Troubles are more easily dealt with there
The storm will pass
And the rainbow will once again shower you with colour
Into each life some rain must fall, but too much is fallin’ in mine Into each heart some tears will fall, but someday the sun will shine('Into Each Life Some Rain Must Fall' - Fisher and Roberts - sung by Ella Fitzgerald 1944)
Storms and troubles are a natural part of life, every body will have the ups and then the down days.
Shoot straight into the eye of it and stand true, no matter how much rain falls nor how many tears you shed, a way can be found if you place yourself at the calm eye of the storm to think things through.
Seek the help of a trusted friend or a counsellor if the storm seems too hard, don't suffer alone.
Hope your day is as calm as can be, till next time, much love
